Earlier this month, Thomas (Year 7) and Tyeisha (Year 6) competed at the 12 Years AFL State Championships, proudly represented the Cape York Crusaders. The Cape York Crusaders bring together talented young players from across a vast region, with team members travelling from the Torres Strait Islands, Cape York communities and south to Georgetown.

More recently, we congratualted Jada (Year 9) and Tahnia (Year 10) who proudly represented the Under 15 Girls Crusaders team at the North Queensland Country Carnival in Airlie Beach! The Crusaders displayed outstanding determination and teamwork, securing 2/3 wins on the opening day of the carnival as they competed against teams from Cairns, Townsville, Mackay and Capricornia. The team also participated in valuable information sessions focused on physical health, including nutrition, hydration, refuelling and recovery, as well as mental health sessions centred on composure, focus and managing fear.

Last week, we celebrated the achievements of Samson and Jeremy from Year 10, who proudly played for the Crusaders Under 15s Boys team at the North Queensland Country Carnival in Airlie Beach. On the first day of the carnival, the Crusaders won 3 of 3 games, with strong performances against Cairns, Mackay and Townsville. Every match was a hard-fought battle, but the boys showed tremendous determination, resilience and teamwork to come away with the victories.

Yesterday, our Year 5 and 6 students attended the Crusader Cup here in Weipa, where they played incredibly well, finishing the day undefeated against teams from Lockhart River, Aurukun, and St Joseph's. Congratulations to Angelo, who was awarded MVP for the day, and Ava, who was named Player of the Day. Well done to all students on an outstanding effort!
