WCC staff will no longer stop traffic or provide traffic directions for students using the pedestrian crossing.

Instead, staff will be 'Marshalls' of the pedestrian crossing(s) to ensure safe and orderly crossing of the road for our students by modelling safe behaviours including but not limited to –

  • Holding the hands of small children and walking them all the way across the pedestrian crossing.
  • Talking to students about their actions and decisions as they wait to cross including asking them:
    • Is this a safe place to cross?
    • Is there somewhere better to cross?
    • Can we be seen by drivers?
    • When is the best time to cross?

Keep an eye out for our Marshalls - they'll be wearing yellow high-vis vests.

Marshalls will stand on the Eastern side of the crossing in the morning and the Western side in the afternoon.

TMR will shortly be advertising for official crossing supervisors.

Thank you for your cooperation.
