Korrop Groups are a targeted, small-group Personal and Social Capability intervention program designed to support students in developing social skills, emotional regulation and positive citizenship behaviours through Active Based Learning (ABL).
The name Korrop was gifted by local community members and reflects the qualities of the kangaroo - strength, balance, perseverance and connection to Country - which underpin the values and purpose of the program.
Program Structure
Each Korrop Group consists of approximately 10–15 students who participate in structured weekly sessions focused on emotional awareness, teamwork, communication and respect for others.
Sessions involve hands-on activities such as team challenges, cooking, outdoor games and problem-solving tasks. These activities are followed by guided student reflection, where students are supported to talk about their feelings, behaviour and choices, and how these connect to being respectful and responsible members of their school community.
Program Outcomes
The program builds cooperation, emotional management and respectful behaviour, with students transferring these skills back into classrooms and playgrounds.
Feedback and staff observations show improved confidence, peer relationships, engagement, attendance and stronger student–teacher relationships, along with reduced disputes and improved behaviour.
