Try for 5! is a primary school program focused on improving school attendance, strengthening student engagement and fostering positive behaviour.

Leveraging the strong Cowboys brand and the involvement of current and former players, the program motivates students and their families to prioritise attendance and active participation in school life.

Through a structured intra- and inter-school attendance challenge, students earn valued incentives including Cowboys merchandise, certificates, family prizes, personalised video messages and exclusive player engagement opportunities.

These rewards recognise commitment and progress, reinforcing positive habits that contribute to improved academic outcomes, a stronger school community and brighter futures for WCC students.

Objectives

• Increase overall school attendance rates among participating primary school students, with a specific focus on reducing chronic absenteeism.
• Foster positive behaviour and a supportive learning environment within the participating schools, contributing to reduced disciplinary issues and promoting a culture of respect and responsibility.
• Improve academic outcomes by boosting student engagement, resulting in higher student achievement and improved classroom participation.
• Help build strong connections between the school, students, families and the broader community, promoting a sense of community and belonging.
