Building Active, Responsible and Capable Citizens
The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is a globally recognised youth development program that plays a central role in Western Cape College's commitment to building active, responsible and capable citizens.
Aligned with our College values and Personal & Social Capabilities framework, the Award provides students with a structured pathway to develop confidence, resilience, leadership and service beyond the classroom.
Through participation in the Award, students set personal goals and challenge themselves across four key areas: Volunteering, Physical Recreation, Skill Development and Adventurous Journey (with an additional Residential Project at Gold level).
The Award is recognised by government and employers for its role in developing personal and leadership capabilities, and students receive points toward their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) upon completion of each award level.
At Western Cape College, the Duke of Edinburgh Award is more than a program — it is a pathway that builds strong, capable young citizens prepared for life beyond school.
