Kumrunja Choir

Years 1–6

Kumrunja Choir

The Western Cape College Choir is proudly known as the Kumrunja Choir, a name gifted to us by Aunty Gracie John, Aunty Maryann Coconut and Aunty Beatrice Gordon.

The choir has had the privilege of working closely with these respected aunties, who have taught students songs in both Alngith and Thaynakwith languages.

About the Choir

The Kumrunja Choir is made up of students from Years 1–6 and meets once a week as a lunchtime club.

The choir regularly performs at school assemblies, leading the community in the National Anthem and School Song, and also performs at special events including NAIDOC celebrations, badge ceremonies, ANZAC Day and awards ceremonies.
