Expanding Thinking
At Western Cape College, Years 5 to 6 are a time of transformation. Students build on the strong foundations established in the early years and begin to emerge as confident, capable and independent learners ready to take on new challenges.
Guided by the Australian Curriculum, students experience engaging programs across English, Mathematics, Science, HASS, The Arts, Health and PE, Technologies, and Languages. In upper primary, literacy and numeracy skills are strengthened, while critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving are developed. Students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning and grow in responsibility and resilience.
In Years 5- 6, students thrive through:
- Specialist teaching programs- expert teachers deliver engaging lessons in Physical Education, Music, Drama, Dance and Visual Arts, allowing students to develop skills, confidence and creativity beyond the core classroom
