Campus Structure of Western Cape College
Western Cape College is comprised of four campuses- Weipa Primary, Weipa Secondary, Mapoon Primary and our Weipa Boarding campus. Each of our campuses are set in their own amazing cultural, social and geographical environment, in the Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland.
Mapoon Primary
Mapoon Campus first opened as a one-teacher community school with only a small group of students. Today, it has grown into a vibrant P–6 education facility built around the College’s staged schooling model. Our focus remains firmly on strengthening students literacy and numeracy in a safe, supportive environment that welcomes all community members. This open-door approach has been pivotal in enhancing student outcomes and fostering a strong sense of partnership and pride across the Campus.
Weipa Primary and Secondary
Weipa Campus, formally known as Weipa North State School is a P-12 education facility. Since inception, the school has serviced both the primary and senior schooling needs of students from across the Cape and, more recently, the Torres Strait. The Campus is the central hub for Western Cape College due to the central location and facilities available.
The Weipa enrolment figures have grown considerably each year since the establishment of the College.
Boarding Campus
The Western Cape College Boarding Campus is located in Weipa. The boarding facilities give students in Years 7-12, from all over the Cape and Torres Straits access to a high school education.
