College Council

The objective of the Western Cape College Council is to improve student learning outcomes by exercising specified functions for guiding the broad strategic direction of the College.


The College Council has five key functions for guiding the strategic direction of the school:

  1. Monitoring the strategic direction
  2. Approving plans and policies of the school, of a strategic nature, and other documents affecting strategic matters, including an annual estimate of revenue and expenditure.
  3. Monitoring the implementation of the plans, policies and other documents mentioned above.
  4. Advising the College Principal about strategic matters.
  5. Projecting a positive image to the community and fostering strategic community partnerships.


Our College Council comprises:

  • Two official members -
    • College Principal and
    • P&C (Weipa Campus) President
  • 4 Parent members (2 x Weipa, 1 x Napranum and 1 x Mapoon)
  • 4 WCC Staff members
  • 2 Student members (1 x Year 11 and 1 x Year 12)
  • 2 Appointed members
