2017 Opti-MINDS Success!


On Saturday 19 August five teams from Western Cape College travelled to Cairns to compete at the Opti-MINDS Regional Challenge at James Cook University. Western Cape College teams competed with 72 teams from 28 schools from the Cairns region. Students learned valuable lessons about hard work, commitment, team work, communication and organisation throughout the Opti-MINDS process.

2017 Results!

Team 1, Team Glenn - Elsie Maher, Noah Gilmour, Ned Nancarrow, Lexi Millard, Georgia Cooper, Tom Wilson -  Received Honours and the Spirit Award
Team 2, The Flataganza - Zoe Goodwin, Charlie Whitley, Nadia Bucci, Kelly Farber - Received Honours. 
Team 5, The Chronicles – Ava Croatto, Cody Morton, Jacob Pendrigh, Jonty Millard, Katie Pilkington - Advanced to the State Finals to be held in Brisbane for Science and Engineering.
Every member of the Opti-MINDS challenge should be proud of themselves for completing this challenge; Team 3, The Ordinary Ones – Maya Hawkins and Alysha Cauchi and Team 4, The Elite 6 - Winston Fell, Arend Fell, Jayden Brooks, Daniel Parker, James Spottiswood and Thomas Mears.
